PLATELET RICH PLASMA THERAPY

To help you get the best results with your hair transplant, Get More Hair offers Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy to enhance hair growth in the transplanted follicles. This safe, minimally invasive regenerative treatment is designed to stimulate stem cell repair in the surface of the skin, making it the perfect supplementary treatment to your hair transplant. Our Cosmedica team take great care to administer PRP safely and with no risk of infection.

WHAT IS PRP THERAPY?

PRP is a clinically approved procedure that uses your blood to stimulate hair growth, resulting in thicker, fuller hair. It involves carefully injecting platelet-rich plasma collected from the blood directly into the scalp. These platelets release proteins that trigger an inflammatory response that stimulates the healing process while also nourishing the hair follicles and encouraging faster growth rates to produce thicker, natural-looking hair.

HOW IS PRP THERAPY ADMINISTERED?

Our PRP involves taking a small amount of blood from the arm, usually between 10 and 20 ml, which is placed in a centrifuge and spun to separate the plasma from the red blood cells and other components. The plasma is combined with a special solution to enhance the effects and is carefully injected into the site of the transplanted areas. Our specialists take care to administer these injections carefully to ensure minimal risk of infection or any other adverse side effects.

WHO CAN HAVE PRP THERAPY?

Anyone with regular iron levels, platelet counts, and platelet function who is not suffering from a systemic infection or active cancer can receive PRP therapy.

WHY HAVE PRP THERAPY?

Our blood is made of two main components, red blood cells, and plasma. The plasma contains white blood cells and platelets, which are rich in growth factors. The growth factors, are used in medicine to treat a range of health issues, including arthritis, signs of aging, etc. and so when it comes to being used after a hair transplant, it helps stimulate the activity of the hair follicles and promote new hair growth.

DOES PRP THERAPY HURT?

While pain tolerances vary between clients, PRP is relatively painless. There may be some discomfort resulting from the injection needles, along with mild soreness and inflammation for up to 48 hours after the injection. However, this can easily be treated with prescribed medication.

HOW LONG DOES PRP THERAPY TAKE?

The length of the procedure usually depends on the size of the transplanted area. Most PRP procedures take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete.
